The Tories, constantly harping on about Labour having 35% of the vote and having a majority in the previous parliament, have 37% of the vote and no majority. Therefore, Cameron must agree that he has no mandate for PM and power.

The first option is a Tory-LibDem coalition. This seems highly unlikely – Cameron’s party hates Europe so much that it left the EPP to join a collection of Holocaust sympathisers and homophobes. The Lib Dems are massively pro-Europe. The Tories don’t want Electoral Reform at all, which would surely be a priority for Clegg. The Tories don’t want to reform the tax system, the Lib Dems do.

So what’s the other option? Clegg could show what a uniting statesman he could be for the whole of the UK. A rainbow Alliance of Labour, Lib Dems, SNP, Plaid Cymru, SDLP, Green has the advantage of being a progressive centre-left coalition and covers all 4 countries in the UK. For this to work of course, compromises will have to be made, but this is the norm in most european countries now. Labour will have to move to the left and drop ID cards, be more progressive on reform of tax and electoral system and most importantly, get rid of Gordon Brown. He’s not been elected again and must go.

This is a huge opportunity for the UK – we can get centre-left coalitions in the UK for good, as long as Nick Clegg can be brave and kill off the idea of the Tories ever changing.

Here’s some bad news for people from the same kind of backgrounds as me – here – disgraceful

Yes change is the real buzz word. But in reality this offer of change is not what it seems. All three main parties operate in a very narrow political theatre, aiming their policies to appeal to the voters in the marginal seats that decide elections. The result is not real change, but very much business as usual with a slightly different flavour. All three main parties believe there should be cuts to public sector spending, it is only the degree and timing which separates them. Furthermore they have all been discredited by the expenses scandal.

All three talk about creating a society based on fairness yet all three support a free market system that can never be fair by its very nature. The vast majority of ordinary people have to live by the decisions made to attract the people in constituencies that send these parties into power. This is why Labour has failed its working class roots (and so has long since lost my support), and the other parties offer nothing better.

It’s not change, it’s nothing of the sort. And Britain will not get change as long as people keep voting for the three main parties. So what are the alternatives? The BNP have tried to attract disgruntled working class people with a simple message that immigration is to blame for all of Britain’s woes. They have tried to appear respectable despite a membership that contains people with criminal records for violent crimes, Holocaust deniers, and Hitler sympathisers. Immigration is not the issue – the under investment in public services, housing and schools is, along with a population that lives longer. The debate needs to be about how these things are to be funded, not about bigoted smears. The fact is that the British economy cannot cope without migrant workers. To their eternal shame rather than pointing out these misconceptions or downright lies, the three main parties have attempted to stifle the BNP’s popularity by taking a hard line approach to immigration. UKIP is little better. While the European Union is far from perfect and needs radical overhaul to work on a more democratic way for the people not just big business, a “little islander” mentality and withdrawal from the EU is not the answer.

What is the answer? Only those who a promote Green Left approach have the solution. Greens have the right combination of ecological and socially just policies that not only recognise we live in a world of finite resources, but propose ways of a more equal and sustainable way of making use of what we have left. Policies that give ordinary people more money and better lifestyles – free insulation, cheaper and more reliable public transport, green sector jobs, supporting local firms, investment in education, keeping the NHS safe from privatisation, promoting healthy living and better food, renewable energy, roadside recycling collections, to name but a few – also benefit the environment and reduce our carbon emissions too. It is the Greens who wish to end the inequality caused by a free market system that unregulated makes billions for a very elite few, while the rest of us pay for those excesses through cuts to vital public services. We must challenge the globalisation orthodoxy of the three main parties, a globalisation that has seen jobs move to cheaper locations abroad, and the goods we want travel ludicrous distances around the world to be in our shops. It is crazy and cannot go on like this. The three main parties’ answer is to turn in varying degrees to the private sector to provide our vital services. But when profit becomes the driving factor, service quality declines, and jobs are lost to save money. If they have their way, the three main parties will lead us into an even more unequal society where the amount of money you have is more important than your needs. It is always the poor and disadvantaged who end up the losers, locally and globally. We need a fairer system of taxation that sees the wealthy few contribute more to improve lives of the many, and improve society for all. So if you are sick of the politicians and want change that actually is change, don’t vote for the same three main parties who offer nothing new and plenty of hurt. But don’t stay at home. Vote for someone with Green policies that deliver social justice. In Leeds Central the only real and fair alternative to “business as usual politics” is me. I will fight for my constituents. I will give a voice to those that go unheard. I will offer something that is truly different. I will stick to my principles and policies, and not pander to the culture of appearance and personalities.
